Within the CINEFOGO project of the Sixth Framework Programme of the EU, BECSA publishes the book "NEW ACTORS IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT: Accession to the EU, Civil Society and Multi-Level Governance", edited by KATIA HRISTOVA-VALTCHEVA (book contents).

The European Parliament publishes a comparative study on the topic "The Selection of Candidates for the EP by National Parties and the Impact of European Political Parties", carried out by an international team on assignment from the EP Committee on Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs. The chapter on Bulgaria is written by BECSA members RUMYANA KOLAROVA and VLADIMIR SHOPOV.

The work of the international expert team within the EU-CONSENT project, which has prepared the analytical overview "EU-25/27 WATCH" twice a year since 2005, is concluded by a comparative summary report entitled "EU-27 Revisited: Discourses and Debates on European Integration after the Convention and the Big-Bang Enlargement. Assoc. Prof. Dr. DINKO DINKOV, BECSA president, takes part in the Bulgarian-Russian round table "The New European Security Architecture" organised in the Russian cultural and information centre in Sofia (programme in Russian).

BECSA and the Information Office of the European Parliament (EP) in Sofia organise a discussion on EU-Russia relations, where IVAN KRASTEV, Chairman of the Board of the Centre for Liberal Strategies - Sofia, presents the book "Assessing the Common Spaces between the European Union and Russia" published by BECSA under the EU-CONSENT project on the basis of research prepared under the aegis of TEPSA on the assignment of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the EP. VLADIMIR SHOPOV and KRASSIMIR NIKOLOV are authors in this publication on behalf of BECSA. Within the EU-CONSENT project, an international expert team prepares an analytical overview No. 8 of the positions of EU member states and candidate countries on topical issues of EU development in the second half of 2008 and the beginning of 2009 "EU-27 WATCH No. 8". BECSA publishes an English-language volume containing assessments of the common spaces between the European Union and Russia, in which BECSA members Vladimir Shopov and Krassimir Nikolov take part as authors (details on the publications of BECSA web-page).

KATIA HRISTOVA-VALTCHEVA, BECSA Board member and Jean Monnet lecturer at New Bulgarian University, takes part in a seminar at the University of Cologne, Germany, which launches the project EU-PO-LIS "The European Polity after Lisbon" (project summary).

The members of BECSA Dr. RUMYANA KOLAROVA, Jean Monnet lecturer in the Political Science Department of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", and VLADIMIR SHOPOV, founder and manager of "Sophia Analytica", complete their work on a study on the topic "The selection of candidates for the European Parliament by national parties and the impact of European political parties. The case of Bulgaria", to be submitted to the Committee on Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs of the European Parliament.
